Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round cake pans and dust with flour.
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and vanilla. Gradually mix wet ingredients into dry until just combined.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before removing from pans.
- For the custard filling, heat heavy cream and sugar in a saucepan until dissolved. Whisk cornstarch with cold milk; add to the saucepan, stirring continuously until thickened. Let cool.
- Melt butter in a small saucepan; pour over chocolate chips in a bowl. Stir until smooth to create ganache.
- Slice cooled cake layers horizontally if desired, spread custard filling between layers, and top with ganache.
